Adelaide Springett was born in February 1893 from the East End of London - known as Spitafields. When photographer, Horace Warner started photographing children in Spitafields, Adelaide ran home to change into all her best clothes to be photographed. Embarrassed at the state of her extremely warn shoes, she kicked them off at the last minute, revealing dirty feet.
